FTSE 100 Index ends flat, risk appetite wanes

Equity markets in general were defensive on Wednesday owing to waning risk appetite, however recoveries in oil prices and US markets allowed FTSE to close in green.

Equity markets in general were defensive on Wednesday owing to waning risk appetite, however recoveries in oil prices and US markets allowed FTSE to close in green.
 
Oil prices and GBP/USD moving back above 1.2500 had a negative impact on UK stocks.
Gold traded at a fresh 3-month highs.
 
With renewed concerns on Greek debt situation and uncertainty owing to elections in France teh risk appetite remained subdued in UK markets.
 
FTSE closed with slight gain of 2.60 points or 0.04% at 7,188.82.
