PM dedicates three BHEL commissione Hydro Power Projects to the Nation

BHEL has a vast experience in hydro electric projects having contracted more than 500 hydro generating sets with a cumulative capacity of more than 29,000 MW of various ratings in India and abroad.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, dedicated three Hydro Electric Projects (HEP) in Himachal Pradesh, representing 1,732 MW of generating capacity, to the nation.

Significantly, all the three power projects, Koldam HEP (4x200 MW) of NTPC, Parbati HEP Stage-III (4x130 MW) of NHPC and Rampur HEP (6x68.67 MW) of SJVN, are equipped with generating equipment supplied and commissioned by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

H.E. Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Himachal Pradesh; Virbhadra Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh; J.P. Nadda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare; Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (I/c) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines; Sujan Singh Pathania, Hon’ble Minister of MPP & Power, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh and other eminent dignitaries were present on the occasion.

BHEL’s hydro installations are working in India and across the world at Azerbaijan, Bhutan, Malaysia, Nepal, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Rwanda and Vietnam.

The company is presently executing Hydro Electric Projects of around 3,300 MW in the country which are under various stages of implementation, in addition to major hydro power projects in DR Congo and Bhutan.

The generation from Hydro projects results in reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and helps in achieving a low carbon path. The Government is contemplating inclusion of Large Hydro Projects in the fold of Renewable Energy to provide an impetus to these projects.
