IBM has announced the implementation of IBM WebSphere ILOG software for AFL Pvt. Limited (AFL) to assist their newly created supply chain team to identify cost saving and service improvement opportunities. The solution involves IBM ILOG LogicNet Plus XE for network design and IBM ILOG Inventory Analyst for inventory analysis and optimization with training and professional services.
A third-party logistics company, AFL’s leadership team decided to offer their clients modeling services like strategic supply chain network design and inventory optimization, to supplement their warehousing and transportation management services. This software solution captures the complexity of the Indian supply chains and is scalable to model the details of AFL’s large clients.
“The new platform will ensure easy-to-use decision support solution for managing global supply chains. It will serve to rationalize global distribution and manufacturing networks to help identify the most cost-efficient supply chain network. It further optimizes technology for companies to turn supply chains into drivers of profitability, efficiency and growth. Inventory savings between 15% - 35% are typical”, said Vivek S Rawat, Country Manager – Websphere – Software Group, IBM India/South Asia.
Mr. Ravinder Bajaj, Head – Solutions and SCM Strategy at AFL’s Logistics Division said: “AFL chose IBM’s iLOG software for several reasons, chief among them – robustness, post-purchase support and a clever user interface that makes data modelling both simple and secure. This unique combination of AFL’s domain expertise in logistics and iLOG’s superior design and modelling capabilities, have helped us unlock significant value in our clients’ supply chain metrics.”
IBM WebSphere ILOG is a recognized industry leader in Business Rule Management Systems (BRMS), optimization, visualization and supply chain solutions. Each of ILOG’s four lines of business fortify IBM’s smarter planet initiative, and align with its BPM, SOA and industry framework portfolios.
Specifically, IBM ILOG Supply Chain Management Applications are optimization-based decision support solutions designed to complement and enhance existing investments in enterprise resource planning (ERP) and advanced planning and scheduling (APS) solutions. These applications help companies make better decisions faster, addressing global supply chain design and sourcing strategies, transportation planning, and the optimal flow and placement of inventory across the end-to-end supply chain. The tools help users uncover opportunities and make the most effective trade-offs in complex and dynamic supply chain environments.
