RKS Rathore, Senior Superintendent of Police said that the fire was caused by a short circuit and the person who got killed was probably asleep and could not react soon enough.

One person has died and two other injured in a fire that broke out at Nirmal Akhada in sector 4 at the Maha Kumbh Mela today, said the reports. Lakhs of devotees were reportedly gathered for the 'Shahi Snan' on the occasion of Basant Panchami.

30 makeshift tents that were set up to house the pilgrims were reportedly gutted by the fire that broke around 2am and later controlled.

10 tents were gutted in a fire some 5 kms away in another incident, late last night, when pilgrims were having their dinner inside a camp. Reports said nobody was injured though.

The Shahi Snan on the occasion of Basant Panchami otherwise went on smoothly as "Akharas" had decided to take out their processions without the usual pomp in view of 36 deaths that occurred in a stampede on February 10 at the Allahabad Junction Railway Station.

The outlook is a flat start. The market will look to scale to new peaks though not much effort is needed for the same. HUL saw a rally and short-covering may have pulled it up further. Speculation is on that its parent will raise stake through an open offer. After the cooling in oil prices, Cairn results will be in focus.
