AN ABP ANANDA INNOVATION WHICH TESTED THE WATERS AND MADE WAVES.
In a first for any Media in Bengal, ABP Ananda kicked off the Durga Puja celebrations with innovative waves to help the tide of progress ebb and flow. It was a new dawn in Bengal on 15th Oct on the onset of the Devi Paksha. On this auspicious day Durga idols in the making have their eyes painted or 'Chakshudaan' done. Pitri Paksha concludes with millions of Bengalis offering Tarpan (Shradh) in memory of their departed ancestors by taking a holy dip in the Ganges.
Since the launch of Sharad Ananda in 2005, one more ritual has been added to the Mahalaya tradition of Bengalis. ABP Ananda is the only organisation to set sail in a branded vessel down the Ganges to dominate the water ways. The ABP Ananda Boat cruised for 6 hours to cover 30 kms touching 14 key ghats starting from the former Outram Ghat (now River Traffic Police Ghat) and ending at Dakshineshwar Ghat . It touched the life of a large mass of worshippers since each ghat hosts an average of 2000 with the bigger ones hosting upto 5000.
