Santogen Exports,earlier known as Saphire India, was incorporated on 30 Apr.'86. It was promoted by the Deora family of the Santogen group. The principal promoters are N P Deora and his brothers. The company manufactures terry towels with an installed capacity of 2000 tpa and Wider Width Fabrics at 50 lacs Meters. Terry fabrics are manufactured and processed from 100% cotton yarn. The fabric used to manufacture towels is known as pile fabric. Terry towels are characterised by loops or pile on the surface of the fabric. A terry towel should have the essential qualities of softness, absorbency, durability and colour fastness. Terry towels have a wide range of consumer and commercial uses like hand towels, bath towels, bathrobes, bath mats, sportswear, etc. The company came out with a public issue in May '93 at a premium of Rs 15 to part-finance a 100% EOU to manufacture terry towels. The company was declared as a 'Sick Unit' by the BIFR and appointed IDBI as the operating agency.Santogen exports has submitted proposal for restructural/rehabilitation to OA.
