Introduction
Organic chemicals,
also called hydrocarbons, are formed with the building blocks of
the molecular structure namely carbon and hydrogen. This#includes
all alcohol based chemicals eg acetic acid, acetic anhydride etc
and nitroaromatics (nitrobenzene, nitrotoluene, and other chemicals
such as citric acid, sorbitol, naphthalene among others).
Petrochemicals are also hydrocarbons and#include commodity
plastics, elastonomers, engineering plastics, synthetic fibres and
their intermediates. These are classified as petrochemicals as they
are most economically and widely produced using propylene, benzene,
toluene, xylene and butadiene as the building blocks, output of
petroleum refining.
