Markets indicating a negative opening, Asian Markets trade flat

Amara Raja Batteries, Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, Dalmia Bharat and Tata Chemicals are some of the large-cap companies set to announce their Q4 results today.

Global markets
Major Asian markets are trading flat at present Nikkei is up 0.27%, Hang Seng is up 0.01%, while the Shanghai Composite is trading up 0.07% lower.

US Markets: Stocks witnessed a choppy trading session ending the day marginally lower.

The Dow and Nasdaq corrected 0.2% to 24,713.98 and 7,382.47 respectively, while the S&P 500 edged down 0.1% to 2,720.13.

The choppy trading on Wall Street came as traders expressed uncertainty about the second round of trade talks between the U.S. and China after President Donald Trump expressed some doubt about whether the high-level trade talks with China will be successful.

European markets managed to close firmly higher yesterday with FTSE ending 0.69% higher, DAX closed 0.97% higher, while the CAC was up 0.90%

FII Data: 
In yesterday’s trading session, FII’s sold 830 crores stock in the cash market whereas DII’s bought 428 crores worth of stock.

In the derivative market, FII’s sold 29 crores of Index futures and bought 2,691 crores worth of Index options.

In the stock futures segment, FII’s sold 243 crores worth of stock futures and bought 33 crores stock options.

FII View:
FII trading activity in yesterday’s session indicates a marginal addition of short positions, which is deduced by the fact that FII’s created 2,975 short contracts in Index Futures, while they simultaneously reduced 7,502 long contracts in Index Call options. However, their net position in May series continues to remain long which is indicated by a long short ratio of 1.4x in Index Futures.
