Tata Group plans to hire tens of thousands of new people at its electronics factory in southern India that manufactures iPhone components as part of an effort to attract more business from Apple Inc.
In order to set up additional production lines, the company in the industrial town of Hosur in the Tamil Nadu state would hire up to 45,000 women workers within 18 to 24 months, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. 10,000 people are currently employed by the plant that makes iPhone housings, or the cases that hold the gadget together, with the majority of them being women.
One of the Indian enterprises attempting to gain from Apple's supply chain diversification outside of China is the salt to software conglomerate. Even while just a small portion of iPhones and their components are produced in India, the nation is making progress in its efforts to compete with China, which is battling COVID-related lockdowns and political issues with the US.
