'The Itch List' wins 1 Million Rupees in Courtyard by Marriott's Young Entrepreneur Challenge

The initiative, which commenced earlier in August this year, aims to foster the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Courtyard by Marriott's innovative campaign 'The Elevator Pitch', announced Mumbai-based Smriti Modi as the grand prize winner for her entry 'The Itch List' by Smriti Modi will receive 1 million rupees to take her business idea to the next level.
The initiative, which commenced earlier in August this year, aims to foster the next generation of entrepreneurs. 5 finalists were shortlisted from over 1,000 submissions, and each had to present their respective business ideas in a 60 second 'Elevator Pitch' to a distinguished panel of judges which included Rajeev Menon, Area Vice President of South Asia, Marriott International; Pratul Gupta, Vice President - Portfolio of Avigo Capital and Pallav Nadhani, Co-founder and CEO of FusionCharts.
The winning idea, 'The Itch List' is a social networking site bringing together like-minded individuals to share and fulfill their buckets lists. 'The Itch List' encourages people to share their list of things they want to do in life -- from travel adventures to picking up a new extreme sport , identifies people who have the same 'itch' and helps them 'scratch' it together. It was selected as the grand prize winner based on its creativity, presentation, market potential and execution plan.
Rajeev Menon, Area Vice President, South East Asia - Marriott International said, "Courtyard by Marriott's campaign 'The Elevator Pitch' was one adrenaline-charged elevator ride that gave young entrepreneurs an opportunity to stay ahead of their game and convert their dream project into reality. It was a tough competition between the top five finalists, but we are happy to have 'The Itch List' as the winner. The idea is and refreshing and for the generation who want to live life to the fullest. The idea is well structured and scalable. And people will feel a strong personal connect with it."
Other judges on the panel Pratul Gupta, Vice President - Portfolio of Avigo Capital said, "She has clarity. She has passion. And she's doing it fulltime. That's why I vote for her." While Pallav Nadhani, Co- founder and CEO of FusionCharts said, "It is a beautiful idea, and we especially love the name. I'm itching for The Itch List.
