FIIs report net inflows of Rs. 281bn in May

FIIs invested Rs. 221.69 billion in equity in May as against Rs. 54.14 billion in April

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) made net investments of Rs. 281.38 billion in May 2013 compared to Rs. 107.49 billion in April 2013, according to SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) data.

FIIs invested Rs. 221.69 billion in equity in May 2013 as against Rs. 54.14 billion in April 2013, the data added.

In addition, FIIs invested Rs. 59.69 billion in debt market in May 2013 as compared to Rs. 53.34 billion in April 2013.

The asset under custody of FIIs at the end of May 2013 stands at Rs. 14.38 trillion, out of which the value of participatory notes including PNs on derivatives is Rs. 1.68 trillion, constituting 11.7% of the total asset under custody of FIIs.

S&P BSE Sensex closed at 19,760.3 on May 31, 2013, as against 19,504.2 on April 30, 2013, registering an increase of 256.1 points (1.3 percent). During May 2013, Sensex recorded an intraday high of 20,443.6 on May 20, 2013 and an intraday low of 19,451.3 on May 2, 2013.

CNX Nifty closed at 5,986 on May 31, 2013 compared to 5,930 on April 30, 2013, indicating an increase of 55.8 points (0.9 percent). During May, Nifty recorded an intraday high of 6,229.5 on May 20, 2013 and an intraday low of 5,911.0 on May 2, 2013.
