MFs receive investments worth Rs. 643bn in June

Mutual funds sold Rs. 2.96 billion in equity compared to Rs. 35.08 billion invested in May 2013

Mutual Funds made net investment of Rs. 646.33 billion in the secondary market in June 2013 compared to investment of Rs. 303.48 billion in May 2013, according to Securities and Exchange Board of India data.

Mutual funds sold Rs. 2.96 billion in equity compared to Rs. 35.08 billion invested in May 2013. Mutual Funds invested Rs. 646.02 billion in debt market in June 2013 as against of Rs. 268.4 billion invested in May 2013.

As on June 28, 2013 there were a total of 1,184 schemes under mutual funds of which income / debt oriented schemes were 749 (63.3%), growth/equity oriented scheme were 346 (29.3%), exchange traded funds were 37 schemes (3.1%), balanced schemes were 32 (2.5%) and fund of funds investing overseas schemes were 21 (1.8%).

The number of schemes at the end of 2012-13 was 1,294 of which income/debt oriented schemes were 857 (66.2%), growth/equity oriented scheme were 347 (26.8%), ETFs were 37 schemes (2.9%), balanced schemes were 32 (2.5%) and fund of funds investing overseas schemes were 21 (1.6%), SEBI added.

S&P BSE Sensex closed at 19395.81 on June 28, 2013, as against 19,760.3 on May 31, 2013, registering a decrease of 364.5 points (1.8%). During June 2013, Sensex recorded an intraday high of 19,860.19 on June 3, 2013 and an intraday low of 18,467.16 on June 24, 2013.

CNX Nifty closed at 5842.2 on June 28, 2013 compared to 5,986 on May 31, 2013, indicating a decrease of 143.8 points (2.4%). During June 2013, Nifty recorded an intraday high of 6,011.0 on June 3, 2013 and an intraday low of 5566.25 on June 24, 2013.
