MREI commemorates birth anniversary of Dr OP Bhalla

The day marked the installation of the Dr O.P. Bhalla Center for Research and Innovation for promoting cutting edge technology

Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI) commemorated the birth anniversary of its Founding Father Dr O.P. Bhalla to carry forward his legacy and realize his dreams for the future. Observing Dr O.P. Bhalla’s Birth Anniversary on April 4th, The institution inaugurated the Dr. O.P. Bhalla Central Library, organised a Mega Blood Donation Camp and a Spiritual discourse by his Holiness Swami Satyamitranand Giriji Maharaj honouring the legacy of the Founding Father, pledging to follow in his trailblazing path.
The day marked the installation of the Dr O.P. Bhalla Center for Research and Innovation for promoting cutting edge technology and Dr O.P. Bhalla Foundation to be headed by Mrs Satya Bhalla and Director, Faculty of Management Studies Mrs Chavi Sharma to bring a transformation in the lives of the needy and the underprivileged people. The Dr O.P. Bhalla Center for Research and Innovation has been set up in the university premises and will be available for the students 24X7, where they can pursue their research and projects as a part of their course as well as for technical competitions at national & international level guided by the eminent faculty and staff.
The state-of-the-art Library has a collection of more than one lakh documents in print and electronic format equipped with online database and technological applications including e-books, audio-books, e-journals and ipads. The Library offers a rewarding stimulus, infrastructure and experience for students and the academic community. Simultaneously, a Blood Donation Camp was conducted in association with Rotary Faridabad East and more than 800 units of blood were donated the same day.
Recounting his father’s life from Mianwali Village in Pakistan to Mohana Village in Haryana, Dr Prashant Bhalla, Chancellor, MRIU said, “I resolve to put in my last ounce of energy to carry forward my father’s legacy. Through our perseverance in the fields of research and innovation, quality education, co-scholastic development, philanthropy, societal upliftment and women’s empowerment, we would be keeping alive his vision for the future.” He announced taking up the cause of a girl’s school in Mohana Village where all the renovation work will be undertaken by the Dr O.P. Bhalla Foundation.
Dr Prashant also thanked every member of the Manav Rachna family expressing his sincere gratitude to his mother Satya Bhalla for “being a pillar of strength” and his brother Dr Amit Bhalla “for bringing in his managerial skills to help run the Manav Rachna institutions.
The birth anniversary also felicitated the following MREI’s distinguished Alumni and students with awards and citations.
· Miss Asia Pacific World 2013 Srishti Rana, an alumni of MRIU, received the first Dr O.P. Bhalla Pinnacle Alumnus Excellence Award;
· Table tennis Ace Ankita Das who represented India in the 2012 Summer Olympics was awarded with the Dr O.P. Bhalla Award of Excellence in the field of Sports,
· Actor-Model Mahima Bakshi received the Dr O.P. Bhalla Award of Excellence in Art and Culture,
· Others such as H.K. Batra who was feted for acquiring worldwide acclaim for quality food products; Nitika Pawar, IAS, for bringing glory to her alma mater by exemplary Career Achievements and Abhimanyue Bhagat for his extraordinary achievements in Design, Development and Entrepreneurship.
To commemorate the life and times of Dr O.P. Bhalla, the institution also released the documentary reflecting his life and achievements and rekindled old memories with people close to him.
