Nifty Metal holds steady as markets turn volatile; Coal India, Vedanta, Adani Enterprises in fast lane

The index has touched an intraday high and low of 4,528.20 and 4,462.20 respectively.

Nifty Metal has pared its early gains of Friday, however, continued to stay steady led by major stocks like Coal India, Vedanta and Adani Enterprises which kept bears at bay as broader markets turn volatile. The sector has been on a gaining spree this week despite the ongoing Covid-19 spread puts a lid on buying sentiments in broader markets term.

Although, trading with marginal upside, yet Nifty Metal outperforms benchmark Nifty 50.

At around 1.51 pm, Nifty Metal trades at 4,472.45 up by 11.55 points or 0.26%. The index gained over 1% in the early trading session today.

The index has touched an intraday high and low of 4,528.20 and 4,462.20 respectively.

Coal India was the top gainer soaring by 1.3% followed by Vedanta surging by 1.08%.

Adani Enterprises and SAIL gained by 0.9% and 0.7% respectively. While Tata Steel and NALCO jumped over 0.6% each.

Stocks like Welspun Corp, MOIL and JSPL advanced marginally.

On the contrary, Hindustan Zinc was the top underperformer tumbling by 1.08%. The company is set to announce its March 2021 quarterly result on April 27, 2021.

While APL Apollo and NMDC followed with nearly 1% downside each. Hindalco slipped by 0.5%.

Ratnamani and JSW Steel dipped marginally.
