Aspiring Minds, India’s leading employability solutions company, and edX, the not-for-profit online learning initiative composed of the leading global institutions of the xConsortium including MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, and IIT Bombay, joined hands today to improve employability amongst the Indian workforce through online education.

The collaboration will enable more than one million people enrolled with Aspiring Minds to receive employability advice through their flagship product AMCAT. The recommendation engine will enable students to find and access edX courses that address their specific skill gaps, in specialties ranging from math, to science, to technology, and beyond. Aspiring Minds’ users who complete edX courses will be awarded edX course certificates, and these credentials will be integrated within their AMCAT user profile, giving them an additional edge in the employment search process. Also, Aspiring Minds will invite all students from India who complete edX courses to the exclusive AMCAT platform and expose them to its 450+ corporate clients. This will not only help students and young job-seekers improve their employability but will also help them connect with organizations across the country for suitable employment.

“We are delighted to work with edX and expose a million AMCAT-takers to edX courses which will be disruptive in helping them improve their employability. Secondly, students who complete edX courses show great initiative and skills. They deserve to be visible to our 450+ corporate clients for job openings, it being a win-win situation for both students and companies”, said Mr. Varun Aggarwal, co-Founder and CTO, Aspiring Minds. This is Aspiring Minds’ first international collaboration and first with an education/training company.

In a testament to the potential of online education in India and the demand for quality academic content, India has emerged as edX’s second biggest market after the U.S. Universities use EdX’s open source learning platform and course offerings worldwide to develop innovative online, on-campus, and blended teaching and learning models. Aspiring Minds is collaborating with edX for this first-of-its-kind initiative because of edX’s cutting-edge online learning environment, educational expertise, and global reach.

Excited at the possibilities of this collaboration, Anant Agarwal, edX president, said, “Aspiring Minds shares our belief that the right educational content, delivered in formats that meet the needs of today’s students and professionals, is the need of the hour. This collaboration helps complete the employability circle – from need-gap assessment, to addressing and fixing skill deficiencies, to finally finding the perfect employer-employee match”.

Aspiring Minds conducts AMCAT, India’s Largest Employability Test for students to evaluate their employability skills. Having reached the million students mark early this year, AMCAT continues to counsel and guide young graduates and first-time job seekers on means and resources that can help them bridge their skill gaps. Working with edX, Aspiring Minds shall now be able to guide their students towards comprehensive and internationally recognized programs to help them address skill deficiencies found by AMCAT.
