Mahila Dakshita Samiti to organize Chaturang on Oct 9-10

Mahila Dakshita Samiti(MDS) a non-government organisation consisting of a band of dedicated women volunteers committed to the empowerment of girl child to organiseChaturang,  a two-day rare and grand gala exhibition “ Essence of Women” at Taj Krishna in Hyderabad on October 9th and 10th 2013.

The proceeds of the Exhibition will go towards setting up and construction of B.Sc. Nursing College, informed Dr.  Saroj Bajaj, President of Mahila Dakshata Samithi—Andhra Pradesh Unit in a press note issued in city today. The College will come up next academic year, she informed.  Mahila Dakshata Samithi is a service oriented organization in the field of social service for over a three decades.  We focus on welfare of women and children and empowerment of women through higher education.  The Samithi has already established Junior, Vocation Nursing and Degree Colleges at Chandanagar in Hyderabad. These are meant exclusively for girls from weaker sections.  There are about 400 students on rolls now of which about 22 per cent are orphans, 35% having single parent and 10% come from lower middle class and below poverty line, she added. 

A large number of 100 exhibitors from across India are expected to participate in the two-day fair. Chaturang is an arm of Mahila Dakshita Samiti (MDS) which organizes exhibitions to raise funds for philanthropic activities.  The orgnisers of the exhibiton include Smt. Suman Krishna Kant, wife of Former Vice President of India;  Dr. Haripriya Rangarajan, wife famous Economist Dr. C. Rangarajan, Padmasri Sheela Jhunjhunwala, Smt. Archana Agrawal, wife of a Senior IAS officer and Dr. Saroj Bajaj.

Mahila Dakshata Samithi was established in 1976 in New Delhi. Mrs. Suman Krishnakant, Dr. Haripriya Rangaranjan & Dr. Sushila Nayyar are among the most eminent women founders of this organization.
It was established to combat the alarming increase in the incidence of dowry deaths. It has membership strength of 35000 members & 175 branches spread over the country.

Adding further Mrs. Archana Agrawal said it is an event which is different from others as it brings into lime light the importance and relevance of contemporary designs and trends in the recent times. Chaturang is endowed with abundant experience in organizing and undertaking large-scale exhibitions. The exhibitors who will showcase their products include producers, importers, distributors and retailers of designer wear for women, men and kids, sarees and suits, fabrics, wooden and ceramics, marble handicrafts, jewelry, decorations and decorative accessories for homes; home textiles; wedding solutions, glassware and china; decorative paintings and panels; home appliances for kitchen sand table accessories and many more informed Smt. Archana Agrawal.
