The main focus of the event was IWTMA announcing WINDERGY INDIA 2017, a three-day exhibition and conference scheduled for January 2017 in Delhi. Commenting on this, Sarvesh Kumar, Chairman, IWTMA said, “The timing for WINDERGY INDIA 2017 couldn’t have been better. The industry is on an upward trajectory and getting more competitive. WINDERGY INDIA 2017 will seek to bring all the stakeholders together to not only celebrate the three decades of wind power in India, but also determine the strategy for a future in which renewables play a major role.” WINDERGY 2017 will be the largest wind power event in India and will be an unparalleled networking opportunity for members of the wind industry. The event will bring together key government authorities, international and national players, service providers, cutting-edge innovators, vital financing entities and all other stakeholders under one roof.
DV Giri, Secretary General, IWTMA said, “WINDERGY INDIA 2017 will provide a substantial boost to the wind business, while also supporting the ‘Make in India’ programme. India now has the fourth highest installed wind capacity, together with an annual manufacturing capacity of 9,500MW.”
The Central Government, under the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has set a goal of installing a cumulative wind capacity of 60 gigawatts by the year 2022. The installed capacity as of March 2016 is 26,915.76 MW.
