Asian indices end higher; Nikkei 225 snaps winning run

Japan's Nikkei 225 snapped a record 16-session winning streak as investors cashed in on recent gains.

Most share indices in the Asian region ended higher, riding on the back of overnight gains in the US indices. However, Japan's Nikkei 225 snapped a record 16-session winning streak as investors cashed in on recent gains.

Asian indices remained largely range-bound as companies in the region reported mixed July-September earnings, and consequently, failed to boost investor sentiment as seen in the US.

On Tuesday, US shares gained following solid earnings reports from heavyweights such as Caterpillar and 3M, and also on promises of tax reform from the Donald Trump administration.
