Asian stocks trade mixed on low volume; Dollar steadies

Asian equities returned caution volumes that showed a lack of conviction. The dollar remained near a one-week high and Treasuries were steady.

South Korea’s Kospi index fell about 1%, with modest losses seen in Hong Kong. Equity markets in Australia and Japan eked out gains. Futures on the S&P 500 Index were steady after the US gauge slipped amid a slew of earnings results, with the sentiment in part dented by President Donald Trump saying he could impose more tariffs on China.
