BSE SmallCap index outperforms; Info Edge, Bombay Burmah stocks gain

Info Edge surged over 4% and is also among the top contributor to the index's gain, followed by City Union Bank, Blue Star, Bombay Burmah Trading Corp and Bata India were the other contributor to the index gain.

Equity indices continued to trade higher with the BSE Smallcap index hitting high at 12,574.49 levels. The Sensex is up 184 points at 37,679 and the Nifty gained 61 points and is trading at 11,119 level.

Info Edge surged over 4% and is also among the top contributor to the index's gain, followed by City Union Bank, Blue Star, Bombay Burmah Trading Corp and Bata India was the other contributor to the index gain.

On the other hand, Mindtree, Redington, Aegis Logistics and AIA Eng were the top losers on the Smallcap index in the afternoon trade.

On the sectoral front, the top gainers from the auto space include Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland which spiked over 7-9% each followed by Eicher Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Exide Industries and Bajaj Auto among others.

The most active stocks are State Bank of India, YES Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC.
