European stocks rose on Friday ahead of the much-awaited speech on the future direction of the monetary policy.
The Stoxx Europe 600 index was up 0.43%.
The German DAX rose 0.4% the French CAC 40 was up 0.40%, while the. FTSE 100 jumped 0.74% on Friday.
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will speak at 10AM Eastern Time to address the Jackson Hole conference with regard to the monetary policy.
The Bank of England Governor Mark Carney also will address the venue today.
Meanwhile Italian President Sergio Mattarella has given parties until Tuesday to either come up with a deal or gear up for new elections.
Asian markets finished higher with the Hang Seng rising 0.50%, China's Shanghai Composite rose 0.49%, and Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 0.40%.
