European stocks volatile ahead of ECB meet; Asian markets close higher

President Donald Trump said he would delay the next US tariff rise on China by around two weeks following reports that China is considering American farm imports.

US equity futures climbed with Asian stocks on Thursday as signs of easing trade tensions boosted risk appetite. European shares were volatile ahead of the ECB meet. 

President Donald Trump said he would delay the next US tariff rise on China by around two weeks following reports that China is considering American farm imports.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index erased earlier gains with the euro strengthening ahead of the ECB meet. Investors expect policymakers to lower the deposit rate and begin a new wave of monetary stimulus.

Oil was volatile with the International Energy Agency warning the OPEC it faces a “daunting” surplus of crude in 2020.
