Retail inflation for June 2019 rose by 3.18% yoy vs. 3.05% yoy in May. Food prices, which is a gauge to measure changes in kitchen budgets, grew 2.1% in June compared to 1.83% in May. Inflation rate in cereals and products stood at 1.3% in June as against 1.24% in May, while vegetable inflation stood at 4.66% in June as against 5.46% in May, the government added.
India’s Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 for the month of May 2019 stands at 133.6, which is 3.1% higher as compared to the level in the month of May 2018. The cumulative growth for the period April-May 2019 over the corresponding period of the previous year stands at 3.7%.
The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of May 2019 stand at 111, 133.3 and 176.9 respectively, with the corresponding growth rates of 3.2%, 2.5% and 7.4% as compared to May 2018. The cumulative growth in these three sectors during April-May 2019 over the corresponding period of 2018 has been 4.1%, 3.2% and 6.7% respectively.
