Markets crack in final hour of trade, Nifty ends 37 points lower below 10800

Indian equity market continued to trend lower extending its losing streak for the fourth consecutive session as every rise in the market was being sold into. Nifty opened the session gap up but failed to hold on to its initial gains, ending the session 37 points lower at 10793, while Bank Nifty settled 125 points lower at 26885. Nifty PSU Bank Index was once again the worst performing sectoral index, down 2.10%.

Nifty and Bank Nifty futures added fresh short positions with open interest soaring higher.

On the options front, call writing was witnessed in OTM strikes with 10900CE and 11000CE witnessing an addition of ~9.81 lakh shares and ~6.25 lakh shares respectively (14th Feb Expiry).

India Vix ended the session 0.07% lower at 15.76.
