Nifty FMCG index maintain upside; Marico, Emami lead gains; Nestle drags

Nifty FMCG stocks shrugged off the Monday horrors yet again to trade higher on Tuesday. The index gained over 100 points to hold on to early gains. Marico and Emami led the gains while Nestle India shed 2% to drag.

At around 12. 50 pm, Nifty FMCG was trading at 34,679.80 up 118.45 points or 0.34% after opening 137 points higher at 34,698.95 on Tuesday. It touched a high of 35,045.45 and a low of 34,591.10 during intraday trade on Tuesday.

Marico gained nearly 3% at Rs419.40 per piece while Emami advanced 2% at Rs516.00 per piece. 

United Breweries, Tata Consumer, Varun Beverages, Dabur and Godrej Consumer were also higher between 1.37% to 1.05%. 

ITC, Procter & Gamble Hygiene, United Spirits and Colgate Palmolive were also trading comfortably in the green. Britannia also traded marginally higher. 

Nestle India was down 2% at Rs17,151.00 per piece. Jubilant Foodworks and Hindustan Unilever also traded in the red.
