Nifty FMCG sheds over 150 pts amid volatile trade; Heavyweights HUL, Jubilant Food drag; Varun Beverages top gainer

Heavyweight Hindustan Unilever and Dabur were also under selling pressure tumbling by nearly 1% each.

Nifty FMCG Index emerged among the top markets bears as the fear of the continuous rise in covid cases and extended lockdowns in various states may derail the economic recovery. However, global news flows and other sector specific development will be key monitorables. 

On Tueday morning trade, at around 11:25 AM, Nifty FMCG was trading at 33,829.25 down 164.95 points or 0.49%. The index has touched a high of 34,166.90 and low of 33,755.95 during intraday trade.

On the trading window, the sectorial heavyweights Hindustan Unilever, Jubilant Foodworks, Godrej Consumer, Tata Consumer and Dabur were under pressure. 

Tata Consumer shed over 3% to emerge as the biggest laggard while Godrej Consumer, Jubilant Foods were around 1.5% down on Tuesday.

Heavyweight Hindustan Unilever and Dabur were also under selling pressure tumbling by nearly 1% each.

However, other than 5 scrips,  all 10 scrips were on advancing note.

Varun Beverages being the top gainenr surged 1.56% at Rs1003.85 per piece on Tuesday. Emami was 1.08% higher at Rs491.80 per piece. Varun Beverages also announced results where profits jumps 128% in Q1 and the company also announces bonus issue.

Britannia and ITC were trading on a flat note.

McDowell and Colgate Palmolive, Marico soared by nearly 1% each.

Procter & Gamble Hygiene lift the sector a bit. Procter & Gamble Hygiene rose 1.65% at Rs13,630 per piece on the index.
