Nifty IT index down 2% led by Infosys, HCL Tech

Shares of Infosys slumped 3% and among top losers on the Nifty IT index, followed by HCL Tech and Hexaware, which were also down by 2% each.

The Nifty IT stocks declined during Friday’s trade, with the index being down 2% at 14,983 due to selling pressure seen in Infosys, HCL Tech and Hexaware.

Shares of Infosys slumped 3% and among the top losers on the Nifty IT index, followed by HCL Tech and Hexaware, which were also down by 2% each. Tech Mahindra, TCS, Wipro and Tata Elxsi also declined over 1.5% in today’s trade.

Meanwhile, the Indian rupee opened flat on Friday at 71.75 per dollar vs. Thursday's close 71.76/$.

India VIX up 0.91% at 15.11.

The top Nifty50 gainers include Zee, which spiked over 4% followed by NTPC, Yes Bank, ITC and Reliance while the top loser is Infratel, Infosys, HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra.

The most active stocks were Zee, Reliance Industries, Infosys and Indiabulls Housing.

Meanwhile, the Sensex fell 136 points at 40,442 levels and the Nifty slipped 38 points at 11,930 levels.
