Nifty Metal gains 1% amid positive global cues

The Nifty Metal index gained 1% on Wednesday tracking progress in trade talks between the US and China.

Investors’ optimism regarding progress in the scheduled trade talks increased after White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow on Tuesday said that the United States and China “expect to make more headway” in trade talks this week. He further added that Chinese vice premier Liu He is due to resume talks with US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Wednesday.

Shares of SAIL, Jindal Stainless (Hisar), Tata Steel, Welspun Corp, and NALCO were leading the index’s gain.

Shares of SAIL, which gained 4%, were leading the index’s gain. Shares of Jindal Stainless (Hisar) and NALCO also contributed to the gain, rising 3% each. Shares of Welspun Corp, JSW Steel, and MOIL gained 2%, while those of Hindustan Zinc, APL Apollo, and NMDC rose 1% each.

Meanwhile, equity benchmark indices were trading in the green on Wednesday with the Sensex rising 137 points at 39,193 levels. The Nifty climbed 26 points to trade at 11,739 levels.
