Nifty Metal Index melts 3%; NMDC, Hindustan Copper fall 7%

The Nifty Metal Index has declined by over 9% so far in 2018.

Shares of metal companies continued their downslide as metal prices fell on the London Metal Exchange. Chinese iron ore dropped 4% to its lowest since November as high inventory levels and a weak domestic steel market weighed on prices.

The Nifty Metal Index was down 3%, the worst hit among sectoral indices. The Nifty Metal Index has declined by over 9% so far in 2018. 

NMDC Ltd is currently trading at Rs117.50, down by Rs8.45 or 6.71% from its previous closing of Rs125.95 on the BSE.

Hindustan Copper Ltd is currently trading at Rs66.80, down by Rs4.7 or 6.57% from its previous closing of Rs71.50 on the BSE.

Steel Authority of India Ltd
is currently trading at Rs68.10, down by Rs4.7 or 6.46% from its previous closing of Rs72.80 on the BSE.

Hindalco Industries Ltd is currently trading at Rs213.20, down by Rs8.65 or 3.9% from its previous closing of Rs221.85 on the BSE.

Tata Steel Ltd is currently trading at Rs574.10, down by Rs26.4 or 4.4% from its previous closing of Rs600.50 on the BSE.
