Nifty PSU Bank climbs 2% led by Canara Bank, Allahabad Bank, BoB, Indian Bank

Shares of Canara Bank, which gained 4%, were leading the index’s gain.

The Nifty PSU Bank ended higher by ~2% on Tuesday as buying seen in Canara Bank, Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda (BOB), Indian Bank, Syndicate Bank, and Union Bank.

Shares of Canara Bank, which gained 4%, were leading the index’s gain. Shares of Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Indian Bank also contributed to the gain, rising 3% each. Shares of Syndicate Bank, Union Bank, PNB, and Bank of India gained 2% each. Also, shares of Oriental Bank of Commerce and SBI gained 1% each.

Meanwhile, equity benchmark indices ended Tuesday on a positive note with the Sensex rising 167 points at 39,951 levels. The Nifty gained 38 points at 11,961 levels.

Besides, on the currency front, the Indian rupee gained 30 paise on Tuesday to trade at day’s high level of 69.35 against the dollar compared to its previous close of 69.65/$. The domestic unit has opened 16 paise at 69.49 against the dollar.
