India's Oil and Natural Gas Corp stated on Monday that it is unclear when its oil and gas project Sakhalin-1 will resume.
ONGC officials told Reuters on the side-lines of the 38th Annual Asia Pacific Petroleum Conference (APPEC) 2022 that production at Sakhalin-1 was "minimized" shortly after the Ukraine crisis began and that there is now no certainty or schedule for when it would return.
After sanctions against Russia made it difficult to export crude to clients, the operator, Exxon Mobile Corp., claimed a state of force majeure.
The Sakhalin-1 project is a partnership between ONGC Videsh, the foreign investment arm of India's ONGC, Exxon Mobile Corp., and Japan's SODECO. The project is 20% owned by ONGC Videsh.
