Private life insurers' YoY premium rises 19% in April

HDFC Life's first year premium rose 44% to Rs. 1.6 billion as against Rs. 1.14 billion

Private life insurers' first year premium collections increased 19% to Rs. 13.34 billion in April 2013 compared to Rs. 11.25 billion in the same period last year, according to IRDA (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority) data.

During the period under review, SBI Life’s first year premium collections zoomed 65% to Rs. 2.85 billion as against Rs. 1.73 billion.

HDFC Life's first year premium rose 44% to Rs. 1.6 billion as against Rs. 1.14 billion, while Reliance Life’s first year premium increased 29% to Rs. 1.11 billion as against Rs. 860 million.
