The Indian rupee
opened higher at 70.98 against the US dollar on Monday. Currently, it has gained 11 paise at 71.02/$.
Moreover, the weakness in the dollar against some other currencies overseas as expectations of a trade deal between the US and China and foreign capital inflows in the domestic equity markets supported the rupee.
The local unit had gained 10 paise on Friday to at 71.14 against the US dollar.
Meanwhile, the Sensex
rose 74 points to 35,945, while the Nifty
was trading above 10,801, up 10 points The market breadth was positive with 1,005 shares advancing, 610 shares declining, and 460 remaining unchanged.
