Sensex, Nifty continue to trade higher; Realty, banking stocks outperform

Mid and smallcap shares continued their upmove for the fifth session in a row.

Equity benchmark indices continued trading higher in afternoon trade led by Yes Bank, Tata Motors, and JSW Steel. Midcap and smallcap shares continued their upmove for the fifth session in a row. The Sensex up 176 points at 37,322, and the Nifty gained 47 points and is trading at 11,050 levels.

Bata India, Cybertech Systems, Dolat Investments, Grand Foundry, Honeywell Automation, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Jump Networks, Dr. Lal Path Labs, Multi Commodity Exchange of India, Petronet LNG, Sanco Industries, and Tata Steel Long Products hit a 52-week high in today’s session.

On the sectoral front, the Realty index is the top gainer, up over 3%. DLF shares surged 6%, followed by Godrej Properties, Oberoi Realty, and Mahindra Life, which were higher by over 4% each.

The Nifty PSU Bank was up 2.5% led by gains seen in Union Bank, Oriental Bank, Syndicate Bank, and Bank of Baroda.

Nifty Auto stocks were also trading higher with Tata Motors up by over 7.5% followed by Motherson Sumi Systems, TVS Motor, and Maruti.

Nifty Metal also rose, led by JSPL, Jindal Stainless, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, and Vedanta.

India Vix is down 1.78% at 15.57.

The most active stocks were ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company, Yes Bank, and Maruti Suzuki.
