Sensex, Nifty to remain closed on account of Independence Day

The forex and commodity futures markets will also not conduct any kind of trading.

Indian stock, forex, money and commodity markets will remain closed today on account of Independence Day. They will reopen on Friday, August 16, 2019.

Along with it, all wholesale commodity markets, including those of metals and bullion, are closed. The forex and commodity futures markets will also not conduct any kind of trading.

On Wednesday, the stock market traded with a positive bias throughout the day backed by short covering. Both Nifty & Bank Nifty index ended the weekly option expiry on a positive note, gaining ~1%.

The BSE Sensex gained 353 points or 0.96% to settle at 37,312 levels while Nifty50 index climbed 104 points to settle at 11,029.40 levels.

Bajaj Finserv, Zee & Tata Steel were among the top Nifty gainers, closing ~4% higher.
