US markets end higher led by oil cos; Facebook extends losses

Key US indices ended higher on Tuesday, led by strong gains in the oil and gas sector as the overall market reclaimed some lost ground from the previous day, led by a fall in the shares of technology companies.

Market participants are also watching for signs from the US central bank, which is expected to take a more aggressive path toward normalising monetary policy, as the Federal Reserve's two-day monetary policy meet concludes today.

Commission was investigating the company over its use of personal data after a whistleblower said a political consultancy improperly accessed information of 50 mln users to sway public opinion.
