Nokia ranked no 1 in The Economic Times- Brand Equity’s annual ‘Most Trusted Brands’ survey for 2010

In a list that is crowded by FMCG brands, Nokia is the only non FMCG brand to feature in the top ten most trusted brands list and the ‘Hall of Fame’.

Nokia has been ranked No.1 in The Economic Times- Brand Equity’s annual ‘Most Trusted Brands’ survey for 2010 in India - marking Nokia India’s recognition as India’s most trusted brand for three consecutive years. This year’s award also inducts Nokia into Brand Equity’s ‘Hall of Fame’ to commemorate 10 years of Brand Equity’s Trusted Brand Survey.  In a list that is crowded by FMCG brands, Nokia is the only non FMCG brand to feature in the top ten most trusted brands list and the ‘Hall of Fame’.

 

Brand Equity’s ‘Most Trusted Brands’ survey aims to identify brands that bond with consumers on various attributes. The survey requested 8160 consumers across socio-economic class, age, income and geography to evaluate 300 brands from consumer products and services on seven key attributes.*

Nokia was ranked No.71 in 2005 when it first appeared in the survey. The company has consistently gained on trust and consumer confidence since then – No.44 in 2006, No.4 in 2007, and No.1 in 2008, 2009 and now, 2010.

 

Nokia’s leadership rating over the years in this survey is also an indicator of the dramatic impact mobility has on India’s consumers over the years – India has been among the fastest growing telecom markets in the world with the current mobile subscriber base at 671 million subscribers as of June 2010 (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, July, 2010 report).

The award marks the celebration of 15 years of mobility and Nokia in India. The first mobile phone call in India was made on a Nokia phone using Nokia network on July 31, 1995.
