Vibrant Gujarat : Mukesh Ambani, Adani to invest more

Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit's 8th edition has been inaugurated by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi along with other global leaders on January 10, 2017. The central focus of the 8th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is “Sustainable Economic and Social Development”.

The event in Gandhinagar began with full delegation level talks, which includes signing of the second bilateral treaty with Serbia and leveraging agricultural expertise of Israel. 

He met with CEOs of US-India Business Council , SNCF , Emerson Electric and Huntsman Corporation.

Later, during their speech, Mukesh Ambani, chairman Reliance Industries; and Gautam Adani, chairman Adani Group showed gratitude towards Gujarat and stated that they are looking forward to a better future while carrying out business in Gujarat. 

Adani said, “We we will invest Rs 16,500 crore in five years in the port sector.” He referred to Gujarat as 'karmabhoomi'. Talks about setting up a cement sprinkle plant and series of desalination plants in Gujarat are underway. “Adani Group's investment in solar and wind will exceed Rs 23,000 crore by 2021, ” he added. He also expects to invest Rs. 1200 crore in edible oil and Rs. 7500 crore in cement business. “Adani Group to invest Rs. 49000 crore in Gujarat in next 5 years” he concluded.

"Reliance Industries will complete investment of Rs 1.25 lakh crore in refinery and petrochemical expansion projects in Gujarat by March, exceeding earlier commitments of Rs 10,000 crore," Mukesh Ambani said while speaking at the 8th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit on Tuesday.

Moreover, Suzuki's CEO also talked about their expansion plans. Prem Watsa, CEO of Fairfax Financial Holdings, Canada; John Chambers, CEO of CISCO; and Huntsman Corp's representative praised Modi's leadership, saying that they are eyeing a bright future ahead.

Vibrant Gujarat has come a long way since its inception in 2003.The summit had secured investment proposals of 25 lakh crores last year. Gujarat is expecting to exceed that benchmark this year.
