Huawei‘s Indian R&D Center achieves CMMI Level 5 v1.3 Certification
Enhanced processes and systems to deliver products and platforms with higher quality and performance to customers worldwide
Huawei Technologies India undertook this important process transformation to further enhance its R&D delivery capability to meet customer expectations of consistent faster & frequent deliveries, reduced time to market, besides high quality. The key aspects of CMMI level 5 v1.3 that the India R&D Center of Huawei has adopted in addition to the previous versions of CMMI process are – a comprehensive quality management system solution for smooth coexistence of CMMI and Agile practices within one system, and selection & customization of high maturity practices/models for implementing quantitative management with clear linkage to consistent improvements in efficiency and quality of deliveries.
An assessment at maturity Level 5 indicates that the organization is performing at an "optimizing" level. At this level, an organization continually improves its processes based on a quantitative understanding of its business objectives and performance needs. The appraisal was conducted by Mr. Sankararaman, High Maturity Lead Appraiser, and Consulting Partner of QAI. Mr. Sankararaman commended Huawei India centre’s approach towards quality and efficiency improvements, leveraging Agile principles, competency development initiatives enabling high maturity practice deployment, and achieving business impact.
Since its inception in 1999, Huawei Technologies India had laid focus on deploying strong processes for managing the telecom and networking software development, achieving CMM Level 4 in 2001, CMM Level 5 in 2003, CMMI Level 5 Ver 1.1 in 2005, and CMMI Level 5 Ver1.2 in 2009, becoming a competent center for software quality and delivery.
Acknowledging this recognition, Mr. Wilson Wang, Chief Operating Officer of Huawei Technologies India said “At Huawei, we strongly believe that having a matured Quality Management System is important for our product realization. The R&D centre has remained focused on the adoption of Software Engineering best practices, having successfully implemented CMMI Model approach for more than a decade, and Agile development methodology for rapid development. The India center of Huawei will continue to deploy improved processes and systems to deliver more products and platforms with higher quality and performance to our customers worldwide.”
