Vikas Gupta to be the new CEO of VLCC

12 Apr 2023 , 01:32 PM

The global investment group Carlyle now owns the cosmetics and skincare company VLCC, which on Tuesday announced the appointment of Vikas Gupta as CEO with immediate effect.

According to a business statement, the leadership move follows Carlyle's December 2022 announcement that it would buy the majority of the company's stock.

Jayant Khosla is succeeded by Vikas Gupta.

Gupta formerly served as the CEO of SuperStore, Nykaa's eB2B division. He also served as Chief Customer and Marketing Officer for Flipkart, an e-commerce site owned by Walmart, from 2019 to 21.

He began his career with HUL, a big FMCG company, where he worked for 21 years in a variety of positions.

Amit Jain, Managing Director and Head of Carlyle India Advisors, told ET: 'Gupta will concentrate on company expansion, utilizing technology and a customer-centric approach to introduce the greatest skincare and beauty offerings to the Indian market. I have no doubt that his leadership will be advantageous to the company.'

The VLCC group, one of the earliest multi-outlet corporate operations in the Skincare, Beauty & Wellness Industry in India, was founded in 1989 by Vandana and Mukesh Luthra as a centre for beauty and weight control services.

In India, the VLCC brand has become a household name for skincare and beauty after more than 34 years in business.

Now, the VLCC Group employs over 3,000 highly qualified employees across 310 locations in 139 cities and 11 countries.
