IIP decreases 0.1% in June, lowest since 2013

India’s Industrial Production fell into the negative territory in June contracting by 0.1%, a four-year low since June 2013, mainly because of decline in manufacturing and capital goods sectors.

India’s Industrial Production fell into the negative territory in June contracting by 0.1%, a four-year low since June 2013, mainly because of decline in manufacturing and capital goods sectors.
 
The general index for the month of June 2017 stood at 119.6, which was 0.1% lower as compared to the level in the month of June 2016 and also lower than 2.7% rise in the last month of May, as per the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) data released by Central Statistics Office on Friday
 
The mining sector stood at 98.8, registering a growth of 0.4% as compared to June 2016. The output of electricity sectors for June stood at 147.4, registering a growth of 2.1% as against June 2016.
 
Consumer durables witnessed a contraction of 2.13% in June, from a growth of 0.8% in the last month. Similarly, the output of primary goods and intermediate goods in June dipped by 0.2% and 0.6% as against a growth of 8.2% and 6%, respectively during the last year. The consumer durables and consumer non-durables have recorded growth of (-) 2.1% and 4.9%, respectively.
