Gujarat elections 2012...vote counting begins
BJP 117 seats and Congress 62 seats
The vote counting begins in Gujarat as attention shifts to the counting of votes of the 2012 Gujarat assembly elections.
The latest reports stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party leading in 117 seats and Congress with 62 seats.
While it may be a state matter the impact is likely to be felt at the national level.
There are 182 assembly seats and a party needs at least 92 seats to get a sole majority and form government in Gujarat.
Chief minister Narendra Modi appears confident of being sworn-in for the third straight term in office.
