Rotary Intnl and Abbott hosts Mega Wellness Camp in Mumbai

Rotary International (the global humanitarian service organization) India PolioPlus programme, in partnership with Abbott, the global healthcare company, hosted a Mega Wellness Camp in Lower Parel, Mumbai. More than 1100 people participated this Mega Wellness Camp.


These Mega Wellness Camps or “Aarogya Mahashivir” are daylong events where large number of doctors provided free consultation and education to all walk-in patients on a wide range of health issues. During these camps members of the community had access to free screenings to detect Thyroid and Diabetes disorder, booths for pediatric and adult nutrition as well as routine check-ups apart from dispensing of analgesic medicines, antacids and vitamins.


Rotary International’s India National PolioPlus Committee (INPPC) partnered with Abbott in this initiative which is a step towards meeting their goal of enhancing access to health care. For Rotary’s India National PolioPlus Committee, the effort is part of their strategy to meet the health needs of the community at large beyond Polio vaccination.


Rotary’s PolioPlus Senior Official in Mumbai, DR Suhas Kulkarni said “We are overjoyed to have this Mega Wellness Camp in Mumbai today. Our partnership with Abbott is an extension of Rotary’s public health initiatives in India.  Dr. Kulkarni added, “We are extremely pleased to have Abbott on board in making such medical health treatments accessible to the community in Mumbai".
