Congress wins Karnataka elections

Congress is leading with 120 seats, BJP in 42, and JD(S) 40 and BSR Congress 4 and others 13

The Congress has won Karnataka assembly elections with around 120 seats in its kitty.

The BJP was decimated to just 39 seats in the 224 member assembly, and JD(S) 41 and BSR Congress 3 and others 13.

The counting of votes to elect new Assembly has began at 36 centres in Karnataka.

The voting took place on May 05 and was held in one phase.

The Congress came to power on its own the last time around in 1999 when it recorded a landslide victory, with S M Krishna becoming Chief Minister.

The BJP came to power on its own steam in 2008.
