The ‘Design Thinking’ workshop on 13th February 2014, aims at showcasing strategies that marry human needs, business strategy, and technology with a unique & creative workshop on how to apply creativity and a user driven approach to make more meaningful innovation in technology industry. The workshop to be conducted by Mikal Hallstrup, Founder, Chief Visionary Officer, Designit, will engage the audience minds and inspire them to think about effective, workable and relevant design ideas to their individual business challenges.

Denmark has been known for innovation and with this session they aim to showcase one of the best design minds from the country. As part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Invest in Denmark is a customized one-stop service for foreign companies looking to set up a business in Denmark and this workshop aims to strengthen their position as leaders in Innovation and Design and bring in focus the Design cluster in Denmark, as one of the strongest in Europe. As Indian IT companies look at moving up the value chain and offer more value added services to clients they have begun building their design teams and strengthening their internal understanding of the subject. This is where Denmark would like to leverage its already existing expertise and knowledge in design and join hands with relevant partners from India and take their business to the next level while continuously evolve the definition of design.

Talking about the upcoming workshop, Mikal Hallstrup, Founder, Chief Visionary Officer, Designit, said, “When we talk design we mean business! Don’t make stuff that no one wants to buy. Don’t design great solutions to problems that do not exist. You always have to put the user first. We do that because understanding users’ needs, behaviour and expectations is fundamental to business. Put users first and business will follow. Not bridging the user gap is still the most common reason for market failure.”

Elaborating he further added, “We strive to create innovations grounded in the needs, desires and behaviours of humans and the rapidly changing world around them. Through techniques ranging from observational analysis, user co-creation, quantitative surveys and contextual studies, our expertise in consumer research is focused on unlocking deep consumer insights and the transformational opportunities that lie within. We solve real-life problems for real people. In short, if it’s not for them, it’s not designed by us.”

Adding to the above, Freddy Svane, Danish Ambassador, said, “India is one of the most economically dynamic and innovative countries in the world. We have more than 20 Indian IT companies who have set up their offices in Denmark and we would like to encourage more companies to collaborate or set up offices in our country. The Tie-up between India’s IT Industry and Danish Businesses has been a success and added to our global competitiveness. Denmark’s Design Cluster is one of the strongest in the world and open to collaboration. We have initiated specific dialogue with a few of them around Design & Innovation and are confident that they will chose Denmark as one of their partner countries joining several leading global companies like CISCO, MICROSOFT, BROADCOM, VOLVO who have already established in Denmark. The World Bank ranks Denmark as the easiest place in Europe to do business. You can establish your company within 24 hours and benefit from some of the world's most flexible labour market rules, a unique talent pool and virtually no corruption. The excellent infrastructure, connectivity and support along with the famed ‘flexicurity’ model makes it a natural destination for companies seeking a foothold in Europe.”
