Reliance Infrastructure Limited was incorporated in October, 1929 with the name Bombay Suburban Electric Supply Limited (BSES) and then changed to BSES Limited. The name of the Company was changed to Reliance Energy Limited with effect from February 24, 2004 and later on, was changed to Reliance Infrastructure Limited on April 28, 2008.The Company is engaged in the business of providing Engineering and Construction (E&C) services for power, roads, metro rail and other infrastructure sectors. The Company is also engaged in implementation, operation and maintenance of several projects in defence sector and infrastructural areas through its special purpose vehicles. It has executed the state of the art Mumbai Metro line one project on build, own, operate and transfer basis. Further, the Company is also a leading utility company having presence across the value chain of energy businesses.The company achieved steep growth from 1995-96 after the completion of 2 x 250 MW Generation Project at Dahanu. During the year 1996-97, the installed capacity of the system was augmented to 1,382 MVA by commissioning additional 224 MVA capacities.
