Economic Overview

Global Economy

The global economy expanded by 3.2% in 2025 (IMF), demonstrating resilience amid a year shaped by heightened geopolitical tensions, evolving trade policies, and continued uncertainty across international markets. While inflation moderated across many advanced economies and monetary conditions gradually improved, businesses continued to navigate a challenging operating environment characterised by shifting tariff regimes, supply chain realignments, and cautious investment activity.

Indian Economy

Against this backdrop, India continued to reinforce its position as one of the worlds fastest- growing major economies, recording 7.7% real GDP growth during FY 2025-26 (MoSPI). Strong domestic demand, sustained public capital expenditure, expanding manufacturing activity, and resilient services sector growth continued to support economic momentum. Policy initiatives focused on infrastructure development, industrial expansion, and ease of doing business further supported Indias long-term growth outlook.

Looking ahead, the Reserve Bank of India projects real GDP growth of 6.7% for FY 202627, supported by continued domestic demand and investment activity. Headline CPI inflation is projected at 4.0%,

Trade remained one of the defining themes of the year. The introduction of new tariff measures by the United States, together with changing global trade dynamics and ongoing geopolitical conflicts, influenced cross-border commerce and prompted manufacturers to diversify sourcing strategies and improve supply chain resilience. Despite these headwinds, manufacturing activity remained supported by continued investments in technology, operational efficiency, and regional production networks.
