Devyani International, which holds the master franchisee of KFC, Pizza Hut and Costa Coffee in India reported a net loss of ₹14.74 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2025. This is against a net loss of ₹7.47 crore in the same period last year.
The company’s revenue from operations increased 15.8% yoy to ₹1,212.59 crore in Q4 FY25 compared to ₹1,047.08 crore in Q4 FY24. Higher costs of key ingredients like cheese and palm oil and increased employee costs pushed up operating expenses by 13.5%. The company also provisioned an impairment charge of ₹13.57 crore, for which details were not specified.
Along with the increasing expenditure, EBITDA grew up by 43% YoY to touch ₹187 crore in Q4 FY25. But at 14.2%, the EBITDA margin was lower than the 17.8% in FY17’s same quarter.
Devynai International reported consolidated revenue of ₹4,951 crore for the full fiscal year FY25, up 39.2% from a year ago. This was a result to the acquisition of strategic KFC stores in Thailand and continued store growth in India.
The company added 257 net new stores in FY25, to increase the total store count to 2,039. This includes 283 KFC stores in Thailand they will purchase on January 18, 2024.
In April 2025, Devyani International acquired Sky Gate Hospitality, owner of “Biryani By Kilo”, and entered a new food category. The company also inked franchise deals recently with three foreign brands: the New York Fries, Tealive and Sanook Kitchen to extend its offerings.
Performance of same-store sales was a mix bag: it was +1% for Pizza Hut, and -6.1% for KFC on year-over-year basis, the latter recorded an improvement over the -7.1% in the year before.
