Hindustan Zinc Ltd witnessed a 1% decline in mined metal output to 299 kilo tonnes (KT) in the last quarter of FY24 compared to 301 KT in the previous year. At the time of writing, shares of Hindustan Zinc was trading at ₹328.65 which is a 4.09% gain than the previous close.
However, the production of mined metal for the entire fiscal year 2023-24 increased by 2% to 1,079 KT, compared to 1,062 KT in 2022-23. Refined metal (zinc and lead) production saw a 1% increase to 273 KT from 269 KT in the same quarter last year. Annual production remained steady at 1,033 KT.
Silver output during FY24 rose by approximately 5% to 746 tonnes from 714 tonnes. Hindustan Zinc Ltd, based in Udaipur, is an integrated producer of zinc, lead, and silver.
It operates as a subsidiary of Vedanta Limited and was previously a Central Public Sector Undertaking, acquired by Vedanta Limited from the Government of India in 2003 during the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the Bharatiya Janata Party government. Hindustan Zinc Ltd ranks as the world’s second-largest zinc producer.
