Adani Group and Uber in Talks for Strategic Partnership on Electric Vehicles

26 Mar 2024 , 03:17 PM

Adani Group is in talks for a strategic collaboration with Uber to introduce electric passenger cars, as reported by The Economic Times. The partnership aims to integrate Uber services into Adani One, launched in 2022, and discussions were held during a meeting between Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group, and Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi on February 24.

Both business leaders expressed their appreciation for their discussions on the Indian growth story and shared visions for the subcontinent.

Gautam Adani, in a post on social media platform X, mentioned the inspiring vision of Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi for the expansion of Uber in India, particularly his commitment to uplifting Indian drivers and their dignity.

Uber CEO highlighted the positive conversation with Adani during breakfast, emphasizing the mobility service provider’s dedication to accelerating the electric vehicle (EV) transition in India.

Uber has announced plans to replace its entire vehicle fleet with electric vehicles by 2040 and has launched Uber Green, an environmentally friendly EV service, in Delhi.

Adani Group has committed to investing $100 billion across various sectors, including energy transition, over the next ten years. Plans include building 10 GW of solar manufacturing capacity, a large-scale solar farm, and investments in battery swapping and EV charging stations.

Uber CEO’s recent visit to India involved signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) on February 22. This collaboration aims to expand mobility offerings on the Uber app through ONDC, a non-profit private organization founded by the Indian government’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.

The partnership with ONDC aligns with Uber’s goal of providing dependable, safe, and affordable rides to all Indians.
